ADALYNE

This 2021 4x4 Sprinter 2500 was designed to serve as a proper 4-season off-grid adventure mobile for an active family with the unique capability to both seat and sleep 4 within the shorter 144” chassis.  A modular interior design maximizes space and function for three distinct configurations – travel mode, living mode, and sleep mode – and fast transitions from one to the other. This enables the van to easily adapt to the situation at hand – a gear hauler for bikes, skis or surfboards, a spacious kitchen, a 4-person dining area, a mobile office, or a bedroom for 4, with easily accessible storage in all modes. You’ll be hard pressed to find a 144” with more living space as all beds are completely stowed until deployed. The interior uses durable, low-maintenance materials and modern black fixtures to create a clean utility-minded look with a thoughtful mix of textures and color. The exterior is intentionally kept modest in appearance, with utilitarian features to keep your outdoor space well lit, rooftop accessible and usable, and bumpers well-protected.

On the exterior, a low profile roof rack inconspicuously supports the 4 solar panels, a WeBoost antenna for improved cellular connectivity, and a nearly 4ft. x 4ft. composite rooftop deck to enjoy the views, lash extra gear and clean the roof and solar of dirt and snow. The 290 watts of rooftop solar feed into the 200ah lithium battery bank, enabling you to run your electric devices, keep the fridge cold, and the water hot for the sink and marine shower out the back. The RedArc power management system clearly informs you about the energy consumption and collection of your electrical system that is additionally supported by an 2000w inverter and external shore power. A Fiamma F80s awning with dimmable light strip provides coverage from sun or rain, and a well-lit space in the evenings. A rear step and front nudge bar with auxillary fog lights protect your van when parking and maneuvering in tight spaces.

Living mode is where this van really shines, with a spacious and functional layout to move around in. Ample storage in the overhead cab, 3-door upper cabinet and lower rear drawers is designed specifically to accommodate Patagonia gear duffels and transition supplies in and out of the van. An 8-foot Paperstone counter and galley provides ample and well-lit food preparation space and kitchen storage, and stock additional food in a slide-out pantry next to the murphy bed. A 15" Ruvati sink has a pull-out faucet with hot water mixer, as well as a filtered drinking water faucet run from a UV-LED water purification system, all of which pulls from the 24 gallon fresh water tank and drains into an 11 gallon under-carriage grey water tank. The fresh water tank is wrapped in insulation and an electric heating pad to keep the water system operable during your winter adventures in below freezing temperatures. Out the rear, a magnet mounted, quick-release shower head with hot water mixer is a welcomed luxury post surf or on extended trips. A rear under-counter storage area doubles as a baby bassinette, or flip the counter up and use it as a cushioned seat or work station with the additional Lagun table mount. An under-sink drawer holds a small trashbin and doubles as a step to access the bed when deployed or help little ones wash hands. The galley extends into the door opening to house an 86L fridge/freezer and an exterior 30” flip-down worktable with dedicated lights. A 16” counter extension over the fridge provides even more space, useful in the morning to prep coffee and breakfast when the murphy bed may still be in use. Under the murphy bed is a storage tray for a Camp Chef propane stove, allowing it to be used in situ or outside on the flip-down worktable or a campsite picnic bench. The front seats come with factory swivels to make a 4-person dining configuration with the rear bench and stowable Paperstone Lagun table. 120v, 12v and USB/USB-C plugs and close proximity with the WeBoost internal antenna also enable this space to be used as a work station. In the rear, dedicated storage for a dometic 460 toilet keeps things civilized.

When it’s time for sleep mode, transition in a matter of minutes. Flarespace flares allow for a queen-sized murphy bed (78” x 60”) with custom latex mattress that deploys instantaneously with the push of a button and assist from a hydraulic piston. Flexible reading lights, storage hooks, vent fan and heater controls are all easily within reach from bed. The Rib Scopema bench seat quickly folds flat into a twin sized bed (74” x 33”). And for the fourth person, a Kids Kot quickly mounts over the front seats and dash to accommodate a child or small adult. Your winter shelter will be nice and toasty inside thanks to a diesel Airtronic cabin heater and proper insulation in the floor, walls, ceiling and synthetic insulated window coverings. In the summer months, a roof-mounted Maxxair Deluxe vent fan along with a Sirocco II gimbal fan will keep the breeze flowing inside. Many dimmable, low lighting options help dial the mood down for bedtime.

This functionally-driven, no-holds barred design captures the quality fabrication and precision detailing of a custom Rig Racks build to maximize the space and utility of a 144” Sprinter chassis. 4-seasons, family-functional, ready for the mountains, trails or ocean, this rig was painstakingly designed, spec’d and considered at every stage of the build process, and will withstand the rigors of an adventure-bound life for decades to come.
